The Football Association have confirmed, that Fabio Capello has resigned as England manager. This happened after a meeting between the Italian and the FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne.
This is a result of an argument between the two parties over the decision to strip John Terry of England captaincy following his race row with QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.
The big favourite to succeed Capello as the England boss is Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, who earlier today was cleared in a tax evasion case in court. He may not however, wish to leave his club, which is currently 3rd in the Premier League and having the best season of his long career.
Other possible candidates mentioned in the media are Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and Guus Hiddink. This would be a job destined for failure considering the lack of matches to be played between now and Euro 2012.
